Arthur Harry Rimmer

Arthur "Harry" Rimmer, 61, of Malvern, Arkansas passed away on 7/31/2022 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer. Harry was born to Robert & Opal Rimmer on July 26, 1961 in San Jose, California. Harry spent his childhood in Magnet Cove, graduating from Magnet Cove in 1979. Harry then spent a few years working at McClure Realty before being hired at Willamette, where he worked for 19 years. Harry then went to work as a control room operator at what is now Entergy Arkansas, where he worked for 21 years. Harry spent his long career idolizing Homer Simpson and reminding his family that their various occupations would be useless if he decided to stop graciously providing them with electricity. Harry is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Opal Otts Rimmer and his step-son Leo Steven Willingham. Harry is survived by his wife, Renee Rimmer; his sons Robert Rimmer, Jonathan Rimmer, and Christopher Rimmer; his step-daughters Stephanie (Jeremy) Johnson and Ashley Clements-Rimmer (C.J. Smith). Grandchildren Shane Rimmer, Emma, Seeley, and Mia Johnson, and Tatum Smith. Siblings Mike (Barby) Rimmer, Donny (Beverly) Rimmer, Patti (Donny) Frye, Shirley (Terry) Osburn and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry is also survived by his dogs, Shelby and Maggie Rimmer and cats, Loki and Itty Bit Rimmer, who he falsely insisted belonged only to his wife, his namesake, Nikolaus Arthur Rimmer, and his extended family at Entergy. Harry faced cancer the same way he faced everything in his life, with the purest and most infuriating stubbornness that can be imagined. Harry fought until the end to remain with his family and only lost his battle when the odds were beyond insurmountable. Harry had an open hand, a generous heart, and an innocent spirit. He loved to give gifts, hunt, fish, buy expensive toys he rarely used, shoot guns, watch television, and tease his family. He both loved to watch his kids flourish and lived to take them down a peg while laughing at their expense. He was arrogant in a bizarrely endearing way that probably shouldn't have been possible. Harry always believed the best of people, even when provided evidence to the contrary. He believed in second chances, grace, and forgiveness. He was silly, slightly awkward, and almost always optimistic. He was intelligent, sensible, skilled, and capable of committing random acts that absolutely defied those same traits. He was mischievous and contradictory; both purely childlike and able to verbally cross every boundary of decent behavior while chuckling madly. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He was always willing to help those around him, including strangers, even if it came at his own detriment. Harry was so, so loved and everyone who valued him was immeasurably enriched by having him in their lives. Visitation will be held at Atkinson Funeral home on Wednesday August 3rd between 6pm and 8pm. Funeral services will take place at Atkinson Funeral home on Thursday August 4th at 1pm. Harry will be interred at Ouachita Cemetery; a brief prayer will be held at the graveside. Online condolences can be made at www.atkinsonfuneralhome.net
