Elouise Porterfield

Elouise Porterfield, 81, of Alvin, TX. passed away on December 10, 2019. She was born on March 3, 1938 in Bismarck, AR. to Arlie and Inez Whitley Thornton. She was a long time member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She retired from the Malvern Wal-Mart after many years of dedicated work. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and always made sure to have a baby blanket ready for any new little one she met.

Elouise is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kelly Porterfield; her daughter, Yuna Porterfield; brother Gifford Thornton; a sister and brother in law Artamis and Wilma Wilson.

She is survived by her loving husband Charles Porterfield; sons Brad (Becky) Porterfield, Douglas (Donna) Porterfield,and Terry (Lisa) Porterfield; brothers Lloyd (Judy) Thornton, Wayne (Becky) Thornton and Paul (Carolyn) Thornton; her sister in law Marcella Thronton; 10 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Also other loved ones who will miss her dearly.


A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Thornton officiating. The Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Kevin Whitley, Kyle Whitley, Tyler Porterfield, Ben Porterfield, Alan Thornton and Chad Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be David Johnson and Bobby Johnson. Interment will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Bismarck.
