Hazel Audien Hixon

Hazel Audien “Mamaw” Hixon 83, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and widow of the late John Howard “Papaw” Hixon of Donaldson, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at her home, with her loving family surrounding her.



Hazel was born on July 21, 1937 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, to Earl and Callie Ware. She was a devoted wife and Mamaw and a member of Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church.



In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Callie and Earl Ware, one brother, Murrell Ware, six sisters, Ailene Martin, Linda Martin, Berniece Dyess, Thelma Shepard, Clarabelle Ware, Catherine Ware, and infant twin daughters, Sandra and Judy Lynn Hixon.



Left to cherish her memory is her son Bruce Hixon (Sandy) of Brown Springs, one daughter Kathy Shaw of Texarkana, AR, two sisters, Earlene Roles of Hot Springs, AR and Ginger Davis (Gene) of Friendship, AR, four grandchildren Buddy Hixon (Erika) of Sunbury, MN, Chris Hixon (Misty) of Brown Springs, Jodie Brookes (Von) of Texarkana, AR, Nathan Shaw (Jessica) of Friendship, extended grandchildren, Bryan “Bubba” Smith, Dawn “Punkin” Starkey of Donaldson, AR, 8 great grandchildren Lexie Norman (Mason) & Will Hixon of Brown Spring, AR., Jarrett & Gabby Hixon of Sunbury, MN, Cash & Callie-Jo Brookes, of Texarkana, AR., Noah & Hazel Grace Shaw of Donaldson, AR, and great-great grandchild Luke Norman of Brown Springs, AR, with many nephews & nieces, and countless extended others throughout the years of her life.



The family and friends of Hazel have known the depths of her love through her daily prayers on their behalf. She prayed with confidence and conviction. Her stunning life is to be praised for her fear of the Lord and her kindness to all.



Her funeral will be 2 pm Wednesday January 20, 2021 at Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Atkinson Chapel at Tuesday January 19, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm in Malvern, AR. Brother Keith Rowton will be officiating. Her burial will be held at Ouachita Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Hixon, Chris Hixon, Von Brookes, Nathan Shaw, Mason Norman, Will Hixon, Jarrett Hixon, Cash Brookes, Noah Shaw, Luke Norman, and Bryan “Bubba” Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Erika Hixon, Misty Hixon, Jodie Brookes, Jessica Shaw, Lexie Norman, Callie Brookes, Gabby Hixon, Hazel Grace Shaw, and Dawn “Punkin” Starkey.
