Laure Sue Hanson

Laure Sue Hanson, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, was carried home in the loving arms of our dear Lord on August 9th, 2023, after a long illness.

Laure was born on July 18, 1954, in Dallas, Texas to Mylen and Alyce Hanson. She was a fun-loving child, never content to stay home and miss out on playing with neighborhood friends until the streetlights came on at dark. Some of her fondest memories came from her "Leave It to Beaver" family and childhood.

Later in life she and her former husband, Mike Fleming, married 23 years, moved to Arkansas, built a log home together, and raised their two daughters in the country. She enjoyed sitting on her screened-in back porch, drinking coffee, reading a book, and watching her comical chickens. Her daughters have fond memories of sitting on that back porch, laughing, talking, and rocking away life's struggles with the support of their Mama. She was a wonderfully empathetic listener.

While in Arkansas, Laure went back to school to become a RN, a career that allowed her to do what came naturally. She was a "damn good" nurse and brought much joy to her patients on the rehab floor at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. She said little old men were her favorite and bonded with them quickly. This was probably due to the very special relationship she shared with her own dad.

After raising her family, Laure moved to Arizona to be near her aging parents. She worked there as a pediatric nurse until moving back to the south to be near her daughters, grandchildren, and continue her career in pediatric nursing. She loved the young at heart because that's who she was too.

Laure is preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Stanley "Skip" Hanson. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Fleming and Kristy Byrd, son in law, Tony Byrd, three grandchildren, Kaylee Byrd, Lucas Byrd, and Liam Byrd, niece, Sara Hanson, sister-friend, Sally Moore, as well as many other dear cousins and friends.

Laure was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. One of Laure's friends summed it up well in saying, "we laughed, we supported, we cried, we loved. She is a special person in my heart forever."

Services will not be held at this time, the family will hold a small memorial service to commemorate her life in the fall in Dallas, Texas. Funeral Arrangements entrusted with the Jones’ Family at Atkinson Funeral Home and Chapel of Malvern, AR. Online condolences can be made at www.atkinsonfuneralhome.net
