Melissa Jean Carter

Melissa Jean Utter Carter, loving wife, mother, friend, and sister, 68, passed away on July 14 2022 with her family beside her on her journey to be with her Lord.

Melissa was born on 10 November 1953 to Dave and Henrietta Utter in Rushville, Illinois.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a talent for cooking and baking.
Everyone enjoyed the fried chicken and macaroni salad that she made like no other. Come Christmas,
we could all look forward to a sugar high from the delicious candy that she made with her daughter.
Her hobby was reading Christian novels and having April, her dog, snuggling on the chair beside her.
She leaves behind her husband, Dean Carter, two daughters, Jenny Jo (husband Billy) Bowlin, Denise
Andrews, and one son, Doug Carter (fiancé Ashley Bradley). Three grandsons, Brice, Austin, and Dalton
Andrews. Two brothers, Jim (wife Sandy) Utter, David (wife Joyce) Utter and one sister, Lisa (husband
Frank) Muellersman and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marsh Kay Geiman. She loved all and was
loved by all, with a heart of gold and the soul to follow.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00 to
3:00pm with a Memory sharing moment starting at 3:00 till 3:30 for family and friends to share.
