Violet Mae Davis

Violet Mae (McMahan) Davis, age 89, passed away on October 29, 2022, in Sheridan, AR.

She was born to Clarence and Elmira (Shinn) McMahan on January 16, 1933, in Friendship, Arkansas. Violet was a Christian and attended New Life Fellowship in Sheridan. She married Herschel Conrad Davis in 1954 and was married until his death in 1992.

In her youth Violet and her sisters were often requested to sing at Churches in Hot Springs County. Violet also loved playing basketball while in High School. She worked as a waitress in Malvern Arkansas and while working at a Café in Malvern she met her future husband. Violet previously volunteered at the Grant County Spirit of Sharing in Sheridan.

Violet was a great cook and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herschel Conrad Davis; brother, Lyndal McMahan; sisters, Inez Fitzhugh, Imogene Cruse and Melva Burris.

Survivors are three sons, Randy Davis of Richmond TX, Gary Davis of Huffman TX and Mike Davis Sheridan, AR; grandchildren, Ashley Davis and Mathew Davis; sisters, Carrie Sealy, Eva Fite, and Barbara Davis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel starting at 2:00 PM with internment following at Lindsey-Poyen Cemetery.
