Betty Jean Lawrence, Godsby, gracefully took her final breath on April 29, 2025, in Hot Springs. Born on September 24, 1943, in the charming community of Malvern, Betty lived a life that embodied the essence of faithfulness and devotion, cementing her legacy amongst family, friends, and her beloved church community.
Betty was married to the love of her life, Raymond Lawrence, with whom she shared 59 1/2 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. As a dedicated mother and grandmother, she was the heartbeat of her family, ensuring that her children and grandchildren were not only raised with love but also instilled with strong values, including a deep commitment to their faith.
Her heart was always open, reflecting a personality that can be aptly described as "faithful." Betty was a steadfast presence in her family’s lives, always ready to lend a hand and offer her unconditional love. She took pride in her role as a grandmother, nurturing her granddaughter Amanda Lawrence of Malvern and her grandson Dustin Lawrence and his wife Nichole of Hot Springs, as well as savoring the joy of her great-granddaughter, Blakely Kate Lawrence, as well as many nieces and nephews
Betty's devotion extended beyond her family. For over thirty years, she served her congregation diligently as the church secretary and pianist, roles she cherished until declining health intervened. Her commitment to her church family was a testament to her character; she approached every task entrusted to her with sincerity and passion.
She was also a long-standing member of Weight Watchers, a journey she undertook with determination and pride, achieving and maintaining her goal weight for many years—a hallmark of her approach to life, which was always about heart and perseverance.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond, her parents Homer and Opal Godsby, her twin brother Bobby, her only child Doug Lawrence, and three special aunts, Rachel Hendrix, Edna Wiskolowski, and Evelyn Loyd. Their memories will remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew them and loved them.
Betty is survived by her beloved brother, Donnie Godsby, and his wife Dorothy of Malvern, along with her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who continue to carry her legacy forward.
As we remember Betty Jean Lawrence, we celebrate a life that was lived fully and lovingly—a life that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and the community she so deeply loved.
