Obituary

Emma Sue Henderson, cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on August 3, 2026. Born November 29, 1947, in Malvern, Arkansas, Emma’s life was marked by unwavering kindness, dedication to family, and a spirit of generosity that touched all who knew her.

Emma was known for her loving and kind-hearted nature. She was hardworking, selfless, and always willing to help anyone in need—values she faithfully demonstrated throughout her life. Her warmth and generosity created a welcoming environment wherever she went, and she leaves behind the legacy of an open heart and a helping hand.

Emma delighted in life’s simple joys. She found pleasure in crocheting, a craft that often resulted in beautiful, handmade gifts for friends and loved ones. Her love for reading, particularly romance novels, provided her with many happy hours. Emma also enjoyed the camaraderie and thrill of playing poker, and she relished the opportunities to travel and spend quality time with her family and friends. These pastimes speak to a woman who found happiness in both solitude and the company of others.

Family was central to Emma’s world. She will be dearly missed by her children, Susan Henderson, Lana Lisenby, and Brad Henderson; her sisters, Margret Hicks and Sherry Chandler; her brother, Willie Farber; her beloved grandchildren, Haley, Paige, Samantha, Nikolas, and Peyton; and by Crystal, spouse of a family member. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends mourn her loss and celebrate her memory.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Farber; her mother, Eva Farber; and her beloved husband, Eddie Henderson. Their memories remain an integral part of her life story, and she is now reunited with them in peace.

Services to honor and remember Emma Sue Henderson’s life will take place at Atkinson Funeral Home-Chapel, 126 E 2nd St, Malvern, AR 72104. Visitation will be held on August 5, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow on August 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a graveside service to conclude at 2:00 p.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Emma are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
