James Emeral Norris, born November 15, 1935, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, at CHI Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a man deeply connected to the natural world and cherished his time spent engaged in hunting, fishing, gardening, and all outdoor pursuits. Above all, James valued the moments he shared with family and friends, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love and devotion.
A respected and beloved member of his community, James is survived by his two sons, Rickey Harold Fitzhugh (Reba) and Bobby Dale Price. His legacy extends through his grandchildren: John Richard Fitzhugh, Rachel Fitzhugh Scrimshire, and James Michael Fitzhugh, as well as several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Johnny and Marie Norris, and is remembered fondly by a wide circle of family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Daphine Fitzhugh Norris, and their daughter, Kathy Gayle Price Laudin. He was the son of the late William L. and Ora Flo Crites Norris. Additionally, he is mourned alongside his deceased siblings: Charles Norris, William Norris, Claudie Norris, Maxie Norris, and Louise Norris.
Visitation will be held on March 30, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Atkinson Funeral Home-Chapel, located at 126 E 2nd St, Malvern, Arkansas 72104. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Alford Cemetery on Possum Trot Road in Malvern, Arkansas, beginning at 3:30 pm and concluding at 4:00 pm.
James Emeral Norris’s life was a testament to the joy found in nature and the strength derived from family bonds.
