Lynda Jean Hughes, born April 6, 1940, in Malvern, Arkansas, passed away on September 2, 2026. She will be remembered as a loving woman whose life was marked by faith, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that reached those around her.
Lynda spent years working for ortho surgeons in Hot Springs, and later served as a supervisor at Aalfs for more than 20 years. She was very independent and easygoing, and her loving nature was evident in the way she would help anyone in need. Those who knew her also knew the quiet joys that filled her days: her faith, puzzles and crossword puzzles, classical music, and, above all, time shared with family and friends.
Her family was a treasured part of her life. She is survived by her sons, Randy Hughes and Scott Hughes, and by her daughter-in-law, Tonya Hughes. She also leaves her sister, Mary Hughes, and Shelby Hughes. Lynda’s memory will live on in her grandchildren, Nick, Tiffany, and Taryn, and in her great-grandchildren, Brook, Adam, and Shepard, each of whom brought happiness to her life and will carry her love forward.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas House; her mother, Anthia House; her son, Greg Hughes; her brothers, Tommy House, Maurice House, Robert House, Kenneth House, and Jimmy House; and her sister, Nancy Jester. Their memory remained part of her story throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home & Chapel, 204 E 2nd St, Malvern, AR 72104. Funeral services will follow beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will occur at Lower Antioch Cemetery.
Lynda Jean Hughes will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, kindness, and the steady love she gave so freely. Her life touched many, and her memory will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved her. www.atkinsonfuneralhome.net
