Royce Carl Tims, born May 6, 1934 in Bismarck, Arkansas, passed away on August 12, 2026 in Malvern, Arkansas. He was a cherished member of his community and a beloved presence in the lives of his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Royce demonstrated a commitment to hard work and service to others. He dedicated over 20 years of his career as a skilled mechanic at Alcoa, where he was known for his reliability, steady work ethic, and genuine camaraderie with colleagues. His hands were rarely still, and his expertise kept countless machines running smoothly.
Royce found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about coon hunting and could often be found outdoors, embracing the peace and beauty of nature. He was a man who appreciated good company and good food, relishing an RC Cola and enjoying fried fish or a sausage biscuit with equal delight.
Known for his willingness to help anyone in need, Royce’s happy-go-lucky and laid-back personality created a welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. Those who knew him will remember the warmth of his smile and the readiness of his laughter, testaments to a life lived with generosity and ease.
Royce Carl Tims is survived by Sue Tims, his children; Dale Tims and Becky Tims; grandchildren Bridget Blair, Joey Schoggin, Amanda Morrow (Danny), Nicholas Schoggin (Brittany), Kristen Lyman (Jonathan), and Kaitlyn Trammel (Brock), numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. Each of these individuals mourns his passing, carrying forward the values and memories that Royce instilled in them.
He is preceded in death by his wife of over 48 years Mattie Tims, son Billy Ray Tims, daughter Sherry Schoggin, brothers Jimmy, Carl, and Paul Tims, and parents Oddie and Gladys Tims. Their memories together mark a legacy of love, devotion, and shared moments.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Royce on August 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel, located at 204 E 2nd St, Malvern, AR 72104. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering the enduring impact and treasured spirit of Royce Carl Tims.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him.
