Sharon Ann Covey, lovingly known as "Mamaw" to her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 80.
Born on October 13, 1945, in Providence, Kentucky, Sharon spent most of her life in Malvern, Arkansas, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and caring for others. She later moved to Memphis in 2019 to live with her daughter, Cheryl, and son-in-law, Tony, where she was lovingly cared for and surrounded by family.
Sharon dedicated many years of service to Baptist Health Center of Hot Spring County. While she worked hard throughout her life, her greatest calling was caring for those she loved. She had an extraordinary servant's heart and never hesitated to help anyone in need. She was a provider in every sense of the word, always putting her children and family before herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Rachel Hughes; her beloved husband, Louie Covey; her son, Timothy Dame; her granddaughter, Heather Jo Travis; her sister, Patricia Hughes; and her brothers, Jimmy Hughes and Johnny Hughes.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Travis (Shannon), Cheryl Williams (Tony), Jana Parker, and Bryan Crabtree; her cherished grandchildren, Stephen Williams, Melody Williams, Summer Riley, Rebecca Travis, Brittany Craig, Jacob Crabtree, Christopher Crabtree, and Sabrina Crabtree; nine great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Jane Dishman (Bobby), Ronnie Hughes (Maxine), Joann Crutchfield (David), and Lisa Boles (Danny).
Sharon had a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. Her greatest joy in life was simply taking care of the people she loved. She loved caring for others, whether that meant helping family, looking after those in need, or making sure everyone was taken care of. While living in Malvern, she was a faithful member of Lifepoint Church and later enjoyed faithfully watching her favorite pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress. She treasured shopping trips and yard sales with her daughter Cheryl, faithfully watched Wheel of Fortune each day, adored her cats, and never passed up a good piece of cornbread.
Those who knew Sharon will remember her infectious sense of humor. She was wonderfully silly, loved to joke with those around her, and could always find a way to make people smile. Beneath that playful spirit was remarkable strength. She faced life's hardships with resilience and determination while never losing the kindness and generosity that defined her.
Her family will especially remember her beautiful blue eyes, her enormous heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. To everyone who knew her, she was a caregiver, a protector, and a source of unwavering love. The greatest legacy she leaves behind is not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her family, friend, Mom, or Mamaw. She will forever be our sweet, sweet Sharon Ann. Graveside service will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery.
